Secret to Happiness: Self-Love

You hear it every day: “You’ve got to love yourself”! It’s the sentence that gets tossed around all the time and it started losing its importance due to its repetitive use in all conversations. To live a healthy lifestyle is to self-love daily. It highly influences your decisions such as daily regular decisions to choose your mate and it becomes the image you portray to everyone.
But what is Self-love? Have you ever thought of it? Self-love is not something you pick to do or be, it’s not earned through shopping for clothes, a beauty make-over or reading an inspirational book… Loving yourself is not dependent on a person you love or your friends that you spend time with. Although these things seem gratifying, they won’t build self-love. Self-love is a place of appreciation for oneself that develops from activities that support our physical, psychological, and spiritual growth. Self-love matures in us when we take the actions that make us better people and content with who we are. When we accept our weaknesses as well as our strengths, have less need to explain away our mistakes, have consideration for individuality struggling, concentrate on our beliefs and purposes, and decide to never stop putting efforts in the right place, we will know what and how self-love is. Always be mindful, know what you want and how you feel, protect yourself from what you know might hurt you, take care of yourself by doing the things you love and going to places you had on your bucket list, live in purpose, and accept who you are, because no one can better accept you.
